May 2011 Cub Scout Packmeeting

{Box Car Race}

We went to our first Packmeeting with Wyatt, Tuesday night. He has been so excited. When I first mentioned scouts... he didn't want anything to do with it... he thought it would infringe on his playtime... but as it got closer he got more and more excited about it and now he absolutely loves it!!! For days that is all he could talk about.

Last Wednesday after school Wyatt and the other boys went to the church for scouts. They played games, had tons of fun, and brought home this box that we were supposed to have decorated by Tuesday night for Packmeetings Box Car Race. Wyatt kept after me every day all weekend long until we finished his car. He spray painted it black all by himself, we found flames on the computer that we printed out and used as a stencil, same for the wheels. Wyatt liked the way it turned out.

The race was awsome!!! Jackie L. is the Cub Scout Master and I have to say she is soooo creative. Wyatt got to race first against Tanner Layton. It was such a good race and they had so much fun. The drivers family had to be the {pit crew} and they had to stop in the pit 3 times.

For the first stop we had to wash their windshield {which was their goggles}... we sprayed them with a squirt bottle and wiped them dry...

the second stop they had to fuel up {get a drink of lemonade}... but they couldn't take their hands off of their car the whole race so we had to hold the cup while they drank...

and for the third stop they had to get their tires changed {we, the pit crew, had to remove their shoes and socks, turn their socks inside out put them back on and put their shoes back on}... it was lots of fun, even for the family.

Wyatt and Tanner both had wrecks during their race. Wyatt wrecked right at the first corner and Tanner wrecked right at the home stretch. They both did so good and had lots of fun. I am so proud of Wyatt and excited for him to be involved in Scouts. He is a busy body and it gives him something to do.

Mothers Day {gift}

I was sooooo excited when I went to Walmart and they had the swing I have been waiting for, so I bought it... shoved it in the van... took it home... put it together {with lots of help}... and have been enjoying it with my whole family. It has been a great mothers day gift from my family and for my family. I just really hope the wind doesn't take off with it. I am looking forward to sunny days, a good book, and this swing...

will Clayton survive this life?

That is the question I keep asking myself. Every day it seems he is getting into something that is hazardous and could really hurt him.

One day we were out working in the yard... I look over and I see Wyatt helping Clayton and Sadie pouring diesel from one bucket into another bucket. I got really upset and asked them what they were doing. Clayton said he was using the diesel as poison to kill the bugs around one of the sheds but he informed me that he hadn't put any on the shed. He is such a pill. They all three had to sit on time out for a while. Later as I walked past the shed I found another bucket of diesel that they had filled earlier. I told them that they had to tell their Dad what they did... they weren't very excited about that.

Then a couple of days later Clayton and Sadie were headed outside to play. I specifically told them not to get into anything they weren't supposed to. A little while later when the came in Sadie was trying to tell me something and Clayton told her to be quite. So I asked what was going on. Then Clayton told me he had started a little stick or something on fire in the little truck and then threw it in the water. I couldn't figure out what he was talking about or how he could have started a fire... their was no smoke or anything. That night when we told Willy he said that it must have been a flare that was in the little truck. Clayton told him that he just rubbed it across his hand and it just caught on fire then it scared him so he threw it out the back window into the bed of the truck where there was some water and it went out. I am so glad that he didn't try putting it in something that could blow up... I am very thankful he wasn't hurt and that he didn't catch anything... including himself... on fire.

I really hope he grows out of this... whatever it is...

I can cross a few more things off my project list... but it doesn't ever get any shorter... because I keep adding things at the bottom.

I made this handstitched saying after I saw the one at Lindsey's reception that Lewaina had made. I hope she doesn't mind I copied her idea. {I love it} I look at it everyday on the shelf in my bedroom. I might have to redo it because I made the words a little too small.

This {measuring stick} has been on my list for a long time. We have been marking the kids heights on the doorframe to the backroom, but I wanted something that we could take with us if we ever moved.

I took a 1x4x6
scuffed up the edges with the dremeltool
painted it brown
cut out vinyl numbers with the cricut
cut out small strips of different sizes using my paper cutter
stuck all the vinyl on the board {you can't see it very good in the picture}
painted antique white overtop
peeled the vinyl off
sanded the edges {so it would look aged}
added a flower at the bottom
and put some glaze over the top {so it would look more aged}
{i love it} now all I need to add is the kids old heights and their new heights.

The kids have been helping me clean up outside... on the good days... which have been few. We dug up some grass and put down some rock... hopefully it will help keep the grass from invading to bad. We also put some brick around our herb garden. Clayton and Sadie hauled almost all of it... they are really good helpers.

Mothers Day Weekend

Mothers day weekend was lots of fun.

Jake & Rebecca and the boys came to visit.

We spent most of the time at Mom and Dad's just enjoying the kids.

All of us girls {Mom, Rebecca, Grandma & I} got to go to Meri's bridal shower on Saturday... we had fun.

{we missed Shantay... she was at Track}

I like celebrating Mothers day for the special women in my life... especially my Mother. She is my greatest role model... I want to be like her when I grow up.

I hope everyone had a great Mothers Day... I did... even though I had to teach Relief Society, lol.

I am so very thankful for our children and the opportunity I have to be a mother.

5 {year old} Tea Party

Sadie has wanted to have a Tea Party for a long time... so I thought it would be fun to have one for her birthday. Daddy and the boys were less enthusiastic, but they did cooperate... they wore their ties... and drake from tea cups. Darby wore a Toto, I had on some play jewelery, and Sadie wore her new outfit from Grandma & Grandpa Hansen. I let Sadie pick out a recipe for her cake which I made... but then she wouldn't eat it {what a pill}. It was a fun Tea Party. We ate, let her open her present, and then played the thimble game {of course}.

We also celebrated again on the weekend with more family, and she got some really cute presents. Sadie got a stick horse and a stuffed pig from Grandma & Grandpa Bird which she won't hardly put down. Sadie had lots of fun and loves her birthday. We love her so much, she brings lots of joy to our home.

i can't wait until i'm {8}

Wyatt has been so excited for his birthday and he is also very excited to turn eight so he can get baptized. I love him so much... he is a huge help... and he is sooo busy wanting to build all kinds of things. For his birthday we bought him a new bike... he really wanted a bow, but I couldn't find one his size. He has grown a lot and is to big for his old bike. Wyatt was really excited to get his new bike... he had to go out and try it right away... he rides it every day when he comes home from school... I am glad... I thought he might be upset that he didn't get a bow, but he wasn't... he had fun.

Wyatt had a great birthday and got some fun presents. He got two parties... one during the week and then a combine party on the weekend. He is still looking forward to his baptism in a few weeks.
