children, children and more children

Willy makes me laugh some days... he teases me when I say we have 4 kids and he says 14. It has been a winter with no snow at our house and it hasn't been to cold (I do hope we get more snow in the mountains though or it will be a dry summer). The kids have enjoyed playing outside without all the snow.

 I was playing with my new camera and took some great coloring pictures for the kids... they want me to print them so they can color themselves.

Poor little Darby was sick so Willy and I slept in the living room with her. I don't like it when our kids are sick but we have been very blessed because we haven't had very much sickness.

"don't lose that puck"

Winter can be lots of fun if you know how to enjoy it...lol. Willy loves playing hockey! And he is really good at it. Each of our kids are starting to love it too and every year we skate they get better and better. Clayton even scored a few goals on Grandpa Bird. Wyatt is almost as good as I am and can sometimes catch me when we play tag. Sadie tried but didn't skate for long. Darby loved sliding on the ice and breaking everyone's backs, lol.  It was a lot of fun having my family there playing with us. The more people the more fun it is... and we had enough people we could have an actual game of hockey, which Willy really liked. I can't wait to see what kind of competition Willy will have when both our boys get big and skate against him.... there is so much to look forward to.

Snow Snow Snow

We got our first snow storm of the season and thankfully it only left about an inch... but the girls couldn't wait to get outside and play in it. It is magical when the snow falls. I am grateful it all melted though, I really don't want a long winter.

Ice Skating

Willy loves to ice skate, but he doesn't like it if the ice is too rough so he has been working on our pond to get the ice smooth. We went out the other day and had lots and lots and lots of fun. Each of the kids had their own skates and surprised me when they wore them and had lots of fun skating. Everyone fell down but laughed, got back up and went again. When it was time to go the boys were upset because they wanted to stay out longer. I hope we can go a couple more times before it warms up too much.

January

January is always a dreary month with the cold and snow and the holidays over, but we are trying to have fun anyway.

One night we went for a drive down to the gulch by Aunt Rae's house because there were lots and lots of elk eating a haystack. The pictures I took aren't very good, but they have eaten the haystack all the way to the ground and are on top of what is left. The deer come by day and the elk by night. The elk trail in from the north and there was a long line still coming. It was an amazing sight.

We have been trying to enjoy the snow & ice instead of dreading it. A couple weekends ago Alex and Katie brought their kids up to go sledding with us. Willy made a track around the field so it wasn't so deep and pulled us around and around on the hood. The boys took turns being pulled on the snowboards. It was a fun day. I love sledding it makes winter more enjoyable, except I wounded my tailbone when I tried snowboarding.

We are planning on going ice skating out on our pond today or tomorrow so I will have to put some more pictures on later.
