the BIG {Rifle Elk Pack Trip}

The long anticipated trip finally came and the guys {Willy, Alex, Morgan and Lew} were on their way up to Rock Creek to begin packing in on 12 horses. There wasn't any phone service so I prayed that they would be safe and hoped that everyone would have a great time. The 5 days were torturer for the kids and I... we really missed Willy. I was excited when he called me a couple of times from Lew's satellite phone... but his voice sounded really different so it was kind of weird. When he called, he told me that they were all still alive and finally having some fun... I was curious, but would have to hear the whole story when they got home. Finally, Tuesday night Willy called and said they were in Mt. Home and on their way home... I was thrilled. They were all exhausted and Willy was glad to be home... then the storytelling began...

It took them forever to get everything packed on the horses, so it was pretty late when they finally started up the trail. Of course the weather was horrible {snow and rain and more snow}. Willy said the horses didn't do so good on the way up... one of them tried crossing through the icy river instead of over the bridge like the rest of the horses... another one took off through the trees ripping up Willy's H-pack and scattering his stuff... and another horse got spooked and scattered half their food through the woods, lol... the hunters had to stop many times to rearrange the packs because the horses kept giving them fits. They ended up sleeping on the trail the first night because of all the mishaps... they didn't quite make it the 8 miles in they had planned to go. So they had to unpack... make camp... and then pack up again the next morning to keep going up the trail. The guys decided to leave the second tent where they had camped, hide it in the bushes and they would pick it up on the way back down {and they did get it}. When they finally made it up to where they had planned to go there was lots of snow to clear and camp to set up... but I think they had some fun when they were actually hunting. Willy said they hiked around but didn't get anything until the day before they came home. The bull Lew got was close to camp... the elk had run out from where the horses were and headed across a clearing... it was a pretty good sized 2 point bull. I am glad they at least got one for all the trouble they put into going up there.

{Halloween} Pillowcases

I know I am obsessed right now with pillowcases.

I can't help it.

They are so easy to make and they make the holidays and seasons that much more fun.

Besides my living room can really use the {pick me up}!

These turned out so cute for Halloween and I have lots more to make for the upcoming holidays and seasons... maybe I will even piece some, lol.

October {Swap} 2011

October was Jessica's turn for swap. I was so excited because I had missed it before when it was at her house so this time I was able to go and see her cute house and make a cute banner {or bunting I guess they are called} I had lots of fun... this project was so easy and very cute... I love projects that we can finish in one night... and she had lots of yummy goodies for us to eat {pumpkin cup cakes, chocolate dipped raspberries, chips, crackers and dip}. I even won the drawing Katie had made... I got these cute wreaths, earings, and some chapstick... so very cute, I love it... she is so creative. It was a great night and one I always look forward to.

Octooooooooober {fun}

The kids and I have started getting excited for Halloween.

We have talked about what they want to be for Halloween night...

bought our pumpkins...

and have started {spookin} up the house.

They always love the witches, pumpkins, ghosts, cob webs and spiders that come along with Halloween.

We even pulled out our Halloween movies the other day and watched a couple... Witch Hazel is my favorite. 

Sadie and I had fun painting our fingernails... shiny orange with brown polka dots... they turned out so cute... it was fun. I wanted to paint Darby's but she doesn't hold still for even one second and I think she would probably suck the paint off before it dried, lol.

2011 Muzzleloader Deer Season

Willy stayed up at Rock Creek with David and Morgan for the first few days of the hunt. They saw a few bucks but didn't get them. He came home and we have gone up as a family a few times. This year hasn't been strictly hunting and driving around as in past years. We drove up to Rock Creek a couple times, but we have also gone fishing and went after wood one day while we were waiting for sundown so the deer would come out. But Willy didn't get his deer up in the mountains. Wednesday night just before the hunt ended he went down to hunt by Alex's house... they saw some bucks but didn't shoot them so they headed down to a David Evan's house... he has always been so good to our guys and let them hunt on his place... that is where Willy shot a 2point. He had a good time hunting and got his deer... and this year is nice because he took his deer to McKinnon's, so I don't even have to cut up deer this year, but I am sure there will be some elk to cut up later. I am a little sad that we didn't get to go with Willy to see him get his deer and we didn't get any pictures... hopefully next year we can.

{ceiling planks}

Ever since we moved in our house I have wanted to put planks up on the ceiling... so after 4 years, we finally got it done. So far we just put them in the living room and dining room, so we have more to do, but they turned out really good. I am trying to make our house like a little cottage and I think they help with that look {they also cover up the ugly plastic pieces that were on the ceiling}

Grandparents Day with Taylor

A couple weeks ago Mom invited me to go to Manti with her so she could go to Grandparents Day with Taylor at Preschool and we could also visit with Rebecca. I was thrilled! I don't get to go visit very often so this was a great plan. It was only for the day, but I had so much fun. Taylor was so cute... he did a grandparent song with actions and they did an art project and ate brownies. Grandma had a lot of fun. While they were gone Sadie and James played... Darby and Keaton sat in our laps... and Rebecca & I talked... it was so nice to have a little one on one with Rebecca, I miss her... she just lives so far away. When Grandma and Taylor got back we talked some more and then decided to go for a walk. We walked up and down main street stopping in a few stores {mostly craft or home decor stores where I bought a couple taper candles}. The kids were good so we also stopped for ice cream cones. It was such a fun day and one I hope we can do again.

Rebecca has such cute things in her house, I just had to take some pictures... I wanted to take some more but got to busy talking.

I really like these tiles she made.
