school bag {family tags}

 I made another set of tags for the kids backpacks. These are so durable and I hope it helps remind the kids that we love them and are thinking of them all day. Last year I hung them on the outside of their bags and they got all kinds of abuse, so this year I am going to hang them inside their bags, somewhere they will see them every time they open them up. Darby doesn't go to school yet, but I just had to make her one too.

cupboard door {chalkboard}

I finally finished the chalkboard that I have been working on all year! It turned out perfect. I am not too sure about the paint job... I wanted it old looking, but I am not to sure about it. I do like the colors though. My favorite part is the knob. Once I got it hung we were singing our favorite Halloween nursery rhyme so we decided to write it on there.

I'm a mean old witch with a hat,

and I ride on my broom with my cat,

and my shoes are pointed 

and my chin is too,

So you better watch out,

 cause I might scare you!

The kids and I are having lots of fun decorating and getting ready for 'all hallows eve.'

door panel... to... coat hook

I have been wanting to build a coat hook for the outside of our house... just to hang {outside} stuff on it. I bought some hooks and I was just going to use a regular board... but then I was in the back yard and saw my old door that was falling apart... so I took the door apart and decided to use one of the long panels off the door to hang the hooks on. It turned out perfect, but I don't think I like the different colored hooks... so I think they are all going to have a paint job and all be white or all be brown?! It is working perfectly for our stuff outside!

my {creative} space

This is my work space in our bedroom... my little bit of creativity in one corner. It looks messy but it works pretty good.

 This is an old letter filer that I bought a long time ago. It works really good for small papers, seed packets and pens.... and I painted it my favorite color.

 I made this sign out of old barn wood and cut it into a flower shape. It fits perfect in this hanger.

Creativity is fun.

yard {work}.... and creations

I am sooooo very behind on so many things. It is going to take me hours on the computer to catch up on my blog. If I didn't make a book every year I wouldn't worry about it... but I do. So here we go.

I was so excited when summer began. I had a notebook page full of things I wanted to accomplish and build. My yard was on the top of that list. Planting a garden, planting trees and flowers, and creating some fun yard accents. The best thing about having flowers in the yard is that you don't have to buy any when you want a bouquet... but I have such a hard time bring myself to cut my flowers because then I know that they will just die. They are so beautiful.

 I am getting my herb garden filled up finally. I planted a few new kinds this year that I grew from seed and they are still alive and growing. Tarragon, Sage, and marjoram. I can't wait till they are big and fill all the space.

 I love daisy's!!! So when I bought this barrel I knew exactly what I wanted to put in it.

 I built these planters and planted wheat. It grew pretty well, but didn't seed out before it died. And the goats didn't help... they kept eating it off.

 I love vines too!!! Our grapevine and honeysuckle are doing magnificent.

 I was going to put these boots out in the yard and plant flowers in them, but they still look pretty good... even though they have a huge hole in the bottom that fills up with sand and water when I wear them... so I decided I would use them as a vase in the house. They turned out very cute.

I have had this window for a very long time trying to decide what to use it for. I finally decided. I painted it and put chicken wire on the back and turned it into a backdrop for my pictures in my room. I really like the knobs on the top.

 I moved the kids' boxes this spring. They work so much better by the fence. Dad gave me some old rubber belting that works great as a weed barrier.

 I love sunflowers so I made this sign... even though we don't have any sunflowers planted in the kids' boxes.

 I finally got my strawberries planted in the metal tank Willy {let me use}. It was working so good until the chickens decided to help out... they smashed them and ate the leaves. Darn chickens!

 This is the beginnings of our garden. It has done amazing this year. I need to take new pictures of it. Willy made this little teepee out of rebar so we could grow some more vines, but they haven't done as well as I hoped they would.

 Here is our sunflower garden planted in tires around the kids play house.

 I really enjoy having a herb garden even though we haven't done much with the herbs yet.

 Willy gave me his old boots so I could plant flowers in them since I didn't use mine.

My list is still pretty long of things I want to build and do... but there is always next year.

cute {knobs}

 I thought these knobs were really cute so got them and decided to put them on the window in the kitchen. It turned out really cute... it just adds a little more to the mirror.

Herb Garden {barn wood sign}

 Spring is here and everything is turning green... I love it!!!! I finally made my first barn wood sign that I have been planning to make for a couple years now. I really like how it turned out and it was pretty easy. I hung it on the fence with some wire... so I could see it when {all} of my herbs cover the ground and reach 2 ft tall, lol.

I am really enjoying spring... I love watching everything grow.

Old Pants... New Shorts

I saw this cute idea on another site... and I thought they were really cute. Of course it wouldn't work for the boys, but when Sadie finally wore out her jeans {she has four pair with holes} I decided it was time to make her some cute shorts. Sadie picked out the ribbon she wanted and I sewed it on the bottom. The only bad thing is they like to fold up with the ribbon on the bottom. Sadie really liked them and so did Darby... Darby was so upset because I wouldn't cut her pants off and sew ribbon on hers. They really give me a good laugh some days.

You were caught being GOOD...

I saw these on the computer a while ago... another lady had made this for her kids. I thought it was such a good idea to help us focus on all the good things that our kids do... and it is really working. We are noticing more the great things that they do without being asked... they are more thoughtful of other people and doing more good deeds. Its great!

New & Redo

I have a new addition to my decoration collection. 

I bought this watering can a few weeks ago and I love how antique it is.

Some days I wish we lived back East where are the flea markets are and so many antiques {someday I hope to at least visit... and take a trailer, lol}

 These flowers are fake, but they look pretty real and best of all... I don't have to water them.

 This is the one of the boxes I made for Josh & Trina's reception last fall. I had a great idea... I thought it would look better if it had a handle on it... so I have been waiting all winter for the weather to warm up so I could stain and nail a handle on this box.

 Finally, it is complete... and I love it!

Picture Frames

For Christmas this year I decided to make frames for a couple of our family members. They turned out better than I thought they where going to. I wish I would have taken pictures of all of them so that I can remember what they look like for when I make more later. I might have to go visit Grandma & Grandpa, Becca and Katie and take some more pictures.

{ceiling planks}

Ever since we moved in our house I have wanted to put planks up on the ceiling... so after 4 years, we finally got it done. So far we just put them in the living room and dining room, so we have more to do, but they turned out really good. I am trying to make our house like a little cottage and I think they help with that look {they also cover up the ugly plastic pieces that were on the ceiling}
