its great to be {eight}!!

 Clayton has been counting down the months... then weeks... then days, until his birthday. 

He was so excited to turn 8. He loved all of his presents and had fun at his birthday party. 

But more than that... he can now go to scouts with Wyatt and in a couple of weeks he will get baptized. He is thrilled! Eight is such a big deal.

Clayton and I went to one of his friends baptisms... and now he can't wait for his own. We love him so much and are so thankful that he is a part of our family. I am so proud of him... he is such a good little helper.

I hope that this birthday is all that he wants it to be and more!

Clayton's {First Grade} Jungle Party

The first grade class had a party... down at the Price Wavepool... for those kids who read at least 100 books or more. Clayton was so excited until we got into the pool.... he only stayed in about 20 minutes before he wanted out... it was so cold. All the kids had fun and no one drown thankfully.... those waves were pretty wild. I had a fun day with Clayton and I am so proud of his achievements. He got his report card and more books to read... it should be a fun summer.

7 years {old}

 I can't believe our little man is 7 years old... he always waits for his birthday with such anticipation because his is the only fall birthday in our family. A month before his birthday he requested pumpkin pie... I was excited to try something different and I think this was the first pumpkin pie I've ever made {I was scared to make it, but it turned out really good} He got some really fun presents {toys, cookies, money} and loved all of them. He had a fun day and a great birthday.

Soccer {2011}

The boys have had lots of fun playing soccer this year. They get lots of exercise. Clayton has the most fun... if he isn't out on the field running after the ball then he is sitting in the goal with the girls talking and not even paying attention to what is going on. Wyatt is very competitive and tries really hard to score goals. They have such different personalities but they are having fun playing on the same team. We really like watching and cheering.

Sadie, Darby and Clayton were so cute the other day. I went in to check on them and they had Darby dressed in Sadie's playdress. Sadie was also dressed up the they were playing a make believe game. It was so fun to see them getting along and having fun. Clayton and Sadie are so good to take Darby to play with them... and she loves it!

will Clayton survive this life?

That is the question I keep asking myself. Every day it seems he is getting into something that is hazardous and could really hurt him.

One day we were out working in the yard... I look over and I see Wyatt helping Clayton and Sadie pouring diesel from one bucket into another bucket. I got really upset and asked them what they were doing. Clayton said he was using the diesel as poison to kill the bugs around one of the sheds but he informed me that he hadn't put any on the shed. He is such a pill. They all three had to sit on time out for a while. Later as I walked past the shed I found another bucket of diesel that they had filled earlier. I told them that they had to tell their Dad what they did... they weren't very excited about that.

Then a couple of days later Clayton and Sadie were headed outside to play. I specifically told them not to get into anything they weren't supposed to. A little while later when the came in Sadie was trying to tell me something and Clayton told her to be quite. So I asked what was going on. Then Clayton told me he had started a little stick or  something on fire in the little truck and then threw it in the water. I couldn't figure out what he was talking about or how he could have started a fire... their was no smoke or anything. That night when we told Willy he said that it must have been a flare that was in the little truck. Clayton told him that he just rubbed it across his hand and it just caught on fire then it scared him so he threw it out the back window into the bed of the truck where there was some water and it went out. I am so glad that he didn't try putting it in something that could blow up... I am very thankful he wasn't hurt and that he didn't catch anything... including himself... on fire.

I really hope he grows out of this... whatever it is...

Muscle Man

Our little man is feeling better. The other night I walked past the bathroom and he was standing over the vent while it was blowing up his pajamas making him look all big. You can't tell in the picture very good, but it was really funny. We all had a good laugh. I love these little moments.

Clayton and the flying trampoline

We had a huge scare yesterday. Clayton and Sadie were out playing on the trampoline... I was in the house working on stuff. The wind was blowing a little and I heard something hit the house... I thought it was our swamp cooler falling off the roof so I ran outside and had a panic attack. The trampoline was upside down next to our house... Sadie was standing by the porch screaming... I asked her where Clayton was and then I saw him crawling out from under the trampoline. I grabbed him... laid him on the ground while asking him where he was hurt... he had scratches and bumps on his head... he wouldn't talk to me so I ran in the house and called 911. The ambulance came and picked him up. The nurse there was from Altamont and said she would take Darby so that I could get down to the hospital. (I love this community!!)

Sadie and I drove down and met Willy, Grandma and Grandpa in the ER at the hospital. By the time we got there the doctor had checked him out and said that he looked okay but they wanted a CAT scan to make sure his head was okay. He held really still for the CAT scan... made the nurses laugh... and was very happy to be going home. Cassie was his nurse and she did such a good job taking care of him. It makes me feel better when there is someone that we know there. Besides his scrapes and bruises Clayton had a concussion with a little swelling inside his head, we had to keep a watch on him for 24 hrs but he could go home. It felt good to finally get home with all of our children.

Later Sadie told us that the trampoline flew up, flipped over, hit the house and then fell on the ground while Clayton was on it. She had climbed off to do something else. (Thankfully she wasn't right there beside him, or in worse shape) Willy had to measure to see how far the trampoline flew... it was about 35 feet from where the trampoline was to the house... SCARY!!! I am so very thankful that Clayton is okay except for the bruises and scrapes. It could have been so much worse. I know Heavenly Father blesses our lives and watches over us.

Clayton is very ready to go back to school!! After one day at home, he is tired of not being able to do anything... lol

Clayton was praying...

Dinner time is usually hard because I can hardly ever make something that everyone likes and will eat. Tonight was one of those nights. I had fixed Chicken and Dumplings. Everyone had finished eating except for Clayton. I was still sitting at the table and I looked over at Clayton who had his arms folded and his eyes closed. We had already prayed before we started eating so I was wondering what was going through his head. After a couple seconds he looked up at me. I asked him if he was praying that his food would disappear, he said...

"no, I was praying that Heavenly Father would make my food so it wouldn't taste so I could eat it and like it."

I couldn't help but laugh. I love my children, even on these days.

6 Years OLD!!!

Clayton had a great birthday last week.
We had been counting down
for months, weeks, and then days until his birthday.

He wanted a carrot lava cake,
but since I didn't have a carrot cake
he settled for a chocolate lava cake.

His poster turned out really cute.

and we got to take cupcakes to school
on his birthday.

a boat that won't float?

Before school started
Wyatt
spent one whole day building a boat.

It was double this size,
but Daddy accidentally broke it in half
when he moved it, so he could get into our shed.

It was cold when we launched it,
but I wanted him to have the chance
to try it out since he spent so much time
working on it.

Wyatt is wonderful brother
and let Clayton have a turn to try and ride.

But no matter what they did
they just couldn't get it to stay above the water.

Even though it wouldn't float
they sure had a good time!

And I couldn't help but laugh as I snapped pictures.

They will have to try again next summer.
